Chapter 5: The Formula for Success – Professionalism, Innovation, and Responsibility
Q: What do you think has been the key to your success?
Javid: I believe it comes down to three words: customer-centricity, adaptability, and perseverance.
Putting the customer first has always been my guiding principle. Sales isn’t just about transactions—it’s about understanding customers’ needs and solving problems.

Working with clients across countries and cultures often means adjusting to their schedules, sometimes at the cost of time with family. But I believe that only by truly seeing things from the customer’s perspective can we build real trust. Cooking dinner for my family after a long day is how I unwind. Their support is a major reason I can keep going.
The industry is evolving fast, and staying ahead means spotting and acting on trends early. For example, we’ve seen rising demand in China for krill oil and CoQ10. Recognizing this, we invested quickly in R&D to develop products that meet market expectations. We’ve also collaborated with leading global ingredient suppliers such as Aker Biomarine and Kaneka to test prototypes and prepare for commercial production. These partnerships have not only strengthened our technical team but also enhanced our reputation for professionalism in the global market.
Challenges are part of the job. Many projects start from scratch. One case was securing our first softgel marine health certificate for China, which required coordination across multiple countries and took three months. There were no shortcuts—just persistence and communication. The results spoke for themselves.
Chapter 6: The Power of Teamwork – The Unipharm DNA

Q: What do you believe is the core strength behind Unipharm’s success?
Javid: It’s the team. No achievement is ever made by one person alone. Every success depends on collaboration across functions—from market research and product formulation to manufacturing and quality control.
I remember one year before Singles’ Day, we received an urgent export order with highly customized requirements and a very tight timeline. Every department—R&D, procurement, production, QC, logistics—worked closely and pushed the limits. We delivered three days ahead of the client’s schedule. That experience reinforced my belief that true team efficiency comes from shared goals and seamless cooperation.
In fact, we go into "battle mode" like this several times a year. During key sales seasons like 6.18 and 11.11, many of us work late into the night. Even our office staff jump in to help with packing. That level of teamwork and unity is a big part of our company culture.
Chapter 7: The Road Ahead – Showcasing New Zealand to the World
Q: What are your expectations for the industry and the company?
Javid: The health industry is undergoing fundamental changes. On one hand, demand for supplements is becoming more specialized, with personalized and functional needs growing. On the other hand, global supply chain shifts since the pandemic have made us rethink agility and resilience.

Unipharm’s future will focus on three areas: First, product innovation—combining scientific research with market needs to create high-value offerings. Second, market diversification—expanding beyond China into Southeast Asia, North America, and emerging regions. Third, digital transformation—leveraging systems to enhance customer service and internal efficiency.
Of these, I place special emphasis on innovation. A healthy business must continue launching differentiated, valuable products to keep customers loyal and competitive.
Q: What is your ultimate goal for yourself and the company?
Javid: I hope Unipharm becomes one of the most recognized names when people think of “Made in New Zealand.” We’re not aiming to be the biggest, but we want every partner to associate us with trust, quality, and a great working relationship.
Chapter 8: Words for the Future – Staying True to the Mission

Q: Lastly, could you share a message for your future self and the company?
Javid: I hope we always remember why we started—maintaining our commitment to quality, respect for our customers, and passion for this industry. May Unipharm continue to grow steadily, evolving with our partners and remaining a trusted manufacturer of health products from New Zealand.
Start with the customer – find out what they want and give it to them.
