In June 2025, Unipharm, as a leading CDMO in New Zealand’s nutraceutical sector, was invited to attend the annual summit of the Natural Health Products NZ (NHPNZ) held in Christchurch.
As one of the most influential events in New Zealand’s health industry, the summit gathered natural health product companies, research institutions, and policymakers from New Zealand and abroad to jointly explore future development trends, regulatory changes, and global market opportunities.
The Strong Growth of “Made in New Zealand”
Industry Overview:
Benefiting from New Zealand’s unique natural environment, rich agricultural resources, and advanced food safety system, the local natural health products industry has developed into one of the country’s core export sectors, with an annual output value exceeding NZD 2.3 billion, mainly targeting Asia-Pacific, North America, and European markets.
The industry has long benefited from strict manufacturing and regulatory standards, as well as strong attention to animal health and employee welfare, making it a globally recognized source of premium natural products.

Summit Focus: Trust, Innovation, and Growth
As the representative organization of the industry, Natural Health Products NZ (NHPNZ), since its establishment in 2002, has been committed to promoting standardization, sustainability, and internationalization. As an active member, Unipharm has long engaged in industry exchanges and policy advocacy.
This year’s summit focused on three core themes — “Trusted Networks, Innovation, and Growth,” exploring how the industry can move from “good” to “excellent.” Topics included regulation, consumer insights, brand building, and cutting-edge technology. Key issues included:
• Global regulatory trends in natural health products
Experts from Australia’s TGA and New Zealand’s Medsafe shared in-depth analysis of regulatory trends and their impact on export strategies.
• Asian Market Insights
Focusing on consumer behavior in Japan and China, analyzing cultural preferences, purchasing motivations, and channel trends in key markets, providing precise insights for brands expanding overseas.
• Brand Building and Trust Development
Leading New Zealand brands shared strategies on how to strengthen the premium image of “Made in New Zealand” in international markets.
• Showcasing Innovative Products and Case Studies
Including R&D experiences and market validation results for honey derivatives, plant extracts, and functional foods.
• Sustainability and ESG Strategies
Exploring pathways and strategies for enterprises to address climate change and improve supply chain transparency.

Unipharm: From Local Ecosystem to Global Market
Over the three-day summit, Unipharm participated with the core concept of “empowerment through technology and win-win cooperation,” actively joining panel discussions and networking, strengthening ties with industry peers, and further integrating into New Zealand’s natural health ecosystem.
As one of New Zealand’s largest nutraceutical exporters, Unipharm is taking a more open and professional approach to connecting with global markets and driving collaborative innovation.

Strategic Significance: Taking “Made with New Zealand Quality” to the World
Participation in this summit was not only an important step in Unipharm’s globalization strategy but also deepened our understanding of New Zealand’s health industry in terms of regulatory systems, consumer trust, scientific innovation, and sustainability.
In the future, Unipharm will continue to uphold the philosophy of “Made with New Zealand Quality + Pure New Zealand,” integrating advanced manufacturing capabilities with global market demand, providing higher-standard and more reliable nutrition and health solutions, and contributing New Zealand’s strength to the sustainable, high-quality development of the global health industry.
