Exploring the Future of Health Science | Students from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhengzhou University Visit Unipharm

On 23 October 2025, Unipharm welcomed a group of special visitors from afar—students from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Zhengzhou University. This exchange provided the students with a valuable opportunity to gain close insight into an international health manufacturing enterprise, while experiencing firsthand the strength of “New Zealand Quality Manufacturing” and the appeal of scientific and technological innovation.

On-site Visit: A Scientific Journey from Warehousing to the Laboratory

The students first visited Unipharm’s Finished Goods Warehouse and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Laboratory.

As a manufacturer holding multiple international certifications, including GMP, RMP, and HACCP, Unipharm not only demonstrates strong production capabilities, but also maintains rigorous standards in quality control and environmental stability testing.

Through on-site explanations, the students gained a clear understanding of how an OEM manufacturer ensures product safety and reliability across the entire chain—from raw material control and process monitoring to final verification.

With its robust manufacturing capacity and stringent standards in quality control and environmental stability testing, Unipharm demonstrated through practical explanations how OEM manufacturers safeguard product safety and reliability across the full value chain of “source control – process monitoring – final validation.”

Scientific Research Strength: Driving the Health Industry Through Innovation

While visiting Unipharm’s patent and awards wall, the students were impressed by the neatly displayed certificates—Unipharm currently holds more than 120 global patents covering the research and manufacturing of nutritional and health products. This was followed by a series of insightful scientific presentations delivered by experts from the New Zealand Food Research Laboratory (NZFRL):

Liquid Formulation Development

Professor Felix Wu: With more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, and as a lead investigator on multiple national-level drug projects in China, Professor Wu used Unipharm’s liquid formulations as examples to explain the high standards required for taste and stability in children’s health products.

Patent and Intellectual Property

Dr Stephen Zhou: An international intellectual property strategy expert with over 20 years of experience in patent authorisation, Dr Zhou provided an in-depth analysis of key intellectual property protection considerations within the global nutrition and health products industry.

Multi-dosage Form Applications

Zhang Juanning: A core member of Unipharm’s Functional Food R&D Centre and a graduate of Massey University with a major in Food Science, she shared practical R&D experience and vividly explained the technical challenges and innovative breakthroughs involved in softgels, tablets, powders, and other dosage forms.

The experts’ presentations enabled students to see the power of integrating scientific research with industry, and to appreciate how technological innovation is shaping the future of health products.

Applying Knowledge: China–New Zealand Exchange Shaping the Future

Through exchanges like this, Unipharm aims to help young scholars build a global perspective and understand the core value of scientific research in industrial development.

At the conclusion of the visit, students and faculty took a group photo with the Unipharm R&D team, capturing a moment filled with inspiration and growth.

Advancing Innovation Together, Creating a Healthier Future

Unipharm firmly believes that education and scientific research are the dual engines driving the sustainable advancement of the health industry.

Looking ahead, we will continue to work hand in hand with universities and research institutions to nurture more outstanding talent for global health initiatives and to explore new possibilities for innovation.
